Rhonda Archer releases ‘Something Stewing in a Cracked Pot: Culling Sacred Cows from the Herd Word’
Book stresses the need to read the Old Testament through the agrarian culture in which it was written.
SARALAND, Ala. – As a child growing up on an Oklahoma dairy farm, Rhonda Archer would use her off-key serenading to move cows between connecting pastures. Grasping that her dream to become an opera singer will not come into fruition, Archer changed her goal. Now, the author’s aspiration is to move people’s focus from the world’s field into their “Heavenly Father’s Kingdom” with a “cattle prod of words” presented in her new book, “Something Stewing in a Cracked Pot: Culling Sacred Cows from the Herd Word” (published by WestBow Press).
The book is about “culling sacred cows” of traditional prejudices so that eyes will open to hear “God’s Written Voice” which the author believes breeds inner peaceful lives no matter the outer circumstances. According to Archer, she cooks up a fresh, off-the-farm field of vision sprinkled with wit, spiced with a hint of Hebraic perspective, seasoned with covenants, stirred, not shaken in faith and is served from a recovering perfectionist pot.
“The tumultuous state of affairs in the world has caused a disquietness of mind. Returning to God’s ancient path in interpreting the Scripture in light of the agrarian culture in which it was lived, brightens the believer’s understanding of His covenant. This brings comfort in knowing that no matter the circumstances, God is true to His covenant terms of protection and provision,” Archer says.
“Something Stewing in a Cracked Pot: Culling Sacred Cows from the Herd Word” aims for readers to rethink their own religious and cultural standards when reading the Bible and walk God’s original design for their lives. “This is not to say they need to convert to present day Judaism. That religion and present day Israel have strayed far from God’s original intent,” Archer adds.
