A few Awakening Assassins have fired off their warning shots of how ‘worship’ does not fit the ‘revival’ box. Have these “opinion-aters” not read 2 Chronicles 20:21 where God had His chosen ones to send out the worshipers first…before the warriors?
“Serve Yahweh with gladness;
Come before Him with a shout for joy-singing triumphal songs!”
(Psalm 100:2)
Since I cannot carry a tune, I’ve wondered if I would be chosen to be one of the first responders (singers) in order to make the enemy want to flee from my off key emittance?
“Get me someone to play some music.”
While the musician was playing, Yahweh’s power came over him.
(2 Kings 3:15)
The salvation story for my husband didn’t fit into the church revival box either. In 1974, Scott was attending the polygraph school at Texas A&M. This particular week his only meals had consisted of coke with peanuts because his last paycheck from out of state had been delayed. When the collection ‘hat’ was being passed around in class for a booze party, he did not hesitate to put in his last dollar excited food would also be served.
Across the room, a classmate was disinclined to place his ‘offering’ in the collection even though he felt God’s prompting to do so. After arguing that attending the booze party would hurt his ‘Christian’ reputation, Dewayne relented.
After filling his plate at the party, Scott reluctantly took the only seat available to him which was next to that “Christian.”
The two quickly learned they had something in common; Dewayne played music and Scott had a wonderful singing voice.
Somewhere during a conversation that began with music, Dewayne shared Jesus; Scott accepted God’s Salvation plan.
Are you beginning to see a theme of how God uses music to open hearts?
Let’s join together in singing the joyful message that if people flee their sin they will be powerfully saved!
